The magnificent New Town Hall & Curved dome lift
Exclusive tour behind the scenes of the New Town Hall, a grand Wilhelminian building, finished in 1913. Have you always wanted to peek behind the doors that are normally closed to visitors? Then take part in our guided tour of the town hall and, during an exclusive tour, discover and compare city models that depict the development of Hannover in four phases: 1689, 1939, after the destruction in 1945 and today.
To get a breath-taking view of this green city, we take the arched elevator up to the dome of the town hall at a height of 97.73 m (320 ft.). On the way up, you are first transported vertically and then at an angle of 17 degrees. A window in the roof of the cabin allows you to follow the ride up close. Another window in the floor of the cabin can be switched to transparent at the touch of a button – this promises a special thrill.
Once at the top, you can let your gaze wander, over the Maschsee or the forest of Eilenriede and watch the hustle and bustle of the city. In good weather, the view extends as far as the hills of the low mountain-range of the Deister and sometimes you can even make out the peaks of the Harz mountains! You shouldn’t miss out on this experience, as this type of arched elevator is unique in the world!
